Word of honour

Honour is found in those who keep their word.
Many decades ago, and for many years, deals were not closed with the signing or notarising of contracts or the need for witnesses, but rather with a simple word of honour.
In centuries past, the beard was a sign of maturity, strength, and wisdom. And so, swearing by the beard was enough to guarantee a man’s word.
It’s believed that swearing “by the beard” began among the Germanic people. It was common for the men to state in their oaths: “bi Gott” or “by God”.
Times have changed a lot. Women entered the work force, beards became a choice of personal style, and swearing by the beard gave way to notarised contracts, affidavits, official seals and much more. The idea of a word of honour became obsolete, and worst of all, so has honour itself.
There are a few, although, that have maintained their honour and still defend its origin. Authentic Christianity is nothing more than the practice of the Word of the Creator. In other words, take on God’s character as your own regardless of religion. This is why a good name is to be chosen rather than great riches… (Proverbs 22:1).
This is the faith of those who are really of God.
