Why have politics when the Kingdom is of God?
You shall appoint (elect) judges and officers (authorities, politicians) in all your gates, which the Lord your God gives you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with just judgment. You shall not pervert justice (find a way); you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe (sell a vote), for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. You shall follow what is altogether just, that you may live and inherit the land which the Lord your God is giving you. Deuteronomy 16.18-20
This precious passage answers one of the questions we’ve heard a lot in recent days: Why is the church speaking about and so engaged in the current political race? For the same reason that God commanded Moses to elect officers and judges when Israel was entering the Promised Land. The work is of God, but it does not happen in Heaven, but here on Earth, where politicians create laws that are made with the clear objective to further oppress the poor and hinder the work of those trying to deliver them. Also, they want to turn Justice into an auction, “whoever pays more, takes it.”
But why does this happen, and often, among the Christian circle?
Is it due to the enormous number of corrupt politicians?
The extreme poverty in which people live in?
I’m telling you that it’s not. The problem is entirely spiritual. It is the absence of the Holy Spirit in people, even in many who are inside a church, because when the Holy Spirit descends upon someone, the first thing that happens to them is an exchange of mind and sharp discernment of spirit, so that the person will never accept bribery, albeit legalized and in the form of some sort of “benefit”. His Spirit causes you to want an abundant life. And, to top it all, when the spirit is the same, that community has a Single Party, which is the Kingdom of God and will never, ever, sell its dignity (vote) for a plate of food. Nor will she choose someone who goes against everything that is right and that she believes in.
Whoever has the Spirit of God cannot be bought for a price because they have values!
God bless you!
