Whose Lord?

whoselord1

An employee does what his employer says because he doesn’t want to run the risk of losing his job. After all, if he loses his job, he might be condemning himself and his family to poverty and hunger.

However, the fear of losing eternal life doesn’t seem to bother the majority of people who say they accept Jesus as Lord.

Perhaps they think that God’s compassion will prevail over justice in the Final Judgment. This has caused them to relax in their faith. They forget that God’s love and compassion are part of His just character. If it weren’t so, His Son would not have been sacrificed.

It’s no use saying that you believe in Him and His Word if you continue following the impulses of a corrupt heart and the voice of evil.

That’s why I say that, without exaggeration, the majority of believers are oppressed. Their lips confess Jesus as Lord, but they are reluctant to obey His voice.

“These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15.8,9)

Jesus Christ is the Lord of heaven, earth and everything else that is in the universe (Colossians 1.16). But when it comes to human beings, He is Lord only to those who serve Him.

Be blessed in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!

P.S.: I want to thank everyone who has posted his love and affection for us on this blog. Thank you very much for your words of faith and encouragement.

As my Lord said, “I will bless those who bless you…”
