What good is a promise if I’m not on the altar?
There are many promises in the Bible, and it seems impossible, but there are people who have not seen even one come true in their lives. But the reason for this is simple: They were spoken for those who are on the altar.
“Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” Luke 9.1-2
Soon afterward, a father brought his possessed son to get help and the nine that had just received this promise could not free the boy. These were the same nine that did not climb Mount Hermon.
This reveals a truth: What good is a promise if I’m not on the altar? Either we place 100% on the altar, or we place nothing.
Either I am the sacrifice, or I’m not.
Either I sacrifice all my life, or I sacrifice nothing.
Don’t you think the same explanation could apply to those have not yet received the Holy Spirit, even though the Lord promised Him? …and the same for those who’ve heard about the promise of abundant life, yet continue to live a life of want?
One thing is certain: What good is a promise if I’m not on the altar?
