When we talk about vanity, we immediately think of things such as shoes, makeup, clothes, going to the gym, and other things. However, this word has a much deeper meaning.

VANITY:

The quality of what is vain and empty, based on an illusory appearance. An appreciation that is attributed to one’s appearance, or any other physical or intellectual qualities, based on the desire that such qualities are recognised or admired by others.

After watching the Pastor’s meeting last Thursday, it wasn’t hard to understand what we heard, and it showed, just like a mirror, who we are, what we are doing and the mistakes we are making.

Our biggest challenge is to overcome vanity; the desire to be recognised and admired by others. It means sacrificing the intellectuality and the illusory appearance of a position to start from scratch, if necessary.

May the Lord Jesus have mercy on us!
