Two examples
Good day bishop!
These two young men in the photo were in a dance group that reached the semi-finals of a very popular program here in England, Britain’s Got Talent.
We were preparing both to do the work of God on the altar and recently one of them (green circle) left everything behind, money, fame, etc. and is now with us and attending the class to become a pastor.
The other (red circle) had the same opportunity and rejected it…
He left the church and focused on the glory of this world, and recently we heard that his life is destroyed, he has no money and he’s on drugs. He lost everything.
The opportunity given to these two young men was the same given to the rich young ruler and Abraham. God spoke to both.
God the Son, Jesus, spoke to the rich young ruler (whose name we don’t even know), but when he heard His words he turned away in sorrow because he was attached to his wealth. He lost the greatest opportunity of his life, that of becoming a son of Abraham, a disciple of Jesus, to have his name included in the list of the heroes of faith, and even more, to have treasure in heaven.
When Abraham heard the voice of God the Father, though he had much more to be attached to than the rich young ruler, he obeyed, left everything behind, let go of his dreams, and the results we all know only too well.
Today, God the Holy Spirit is giving the same opportunity to all of us, but it’s up to each one of us to decide which of these two examples we’re going to follow. God already gave us a piece of advice: “Look to Abraham!” (Isaiah 51:2)
When God told Abraham to go out, he went.
Today, who of you will go out?
