As long as Adam and Eve obeyed God, they lived in perfect harmony and peace in the Garden of Eden. Death did not exist. The animals did not feed on other animals to survive because their food, like humans, came only from the fruit of the earth. To continue living under these circumstances, all they had to do was remain obedient.

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Genesis 2.16-17

This death would not be immediate. It would come slowly, with suffering and pain. Rebellion to the Word of God definitely cost them their lives. Not only did it bring physical death to the world, but also brought death to their purity and communion with God.

Until then, everything was pure in their eyes, but the consumption of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil blinded their good eyes and caused them to have bad eyes. Everything that was pure in their eyes became impure.

Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. Genesis 3.7

Bad eyes cause the greatest and worst curse there is: DOUBT. While they were unaware of the existence of good and evil, guided only by their obedience to God, there were no doubts and, consequently, there was no fear, worries, anxiety or weakness. The tree of the knowledge of good and evil was, in fact, a “tree of doubt”. This was the taste of its fruit.

Doubt only exists because there are, at least, two choices. When you do not base your choices on remaining obedient to God, you will not know what to do. Should I get married or not? Is this going to work or not? Do I tell the truth or lie? Am I pleasing Him or not? Is this God’s will or not? Should I do this or not? Will I be able to do it? Should I go down this road? Is this the best choice? Will I regret this? What is going to happen?…

Doubt produces fear, which produces worry, which produces anxiety, which produces instability, weakness, depression, etc. In the innocence of a child, the element of doubt does not exist. This is where their innocence and beauty lies. A child’s eyes see everything with pureness. This is how Adam and Eve were before they disobeyed the Word of God. How would the world be if we did not have bad eyes to choose our own will? Or how would the world be if we had good eyes to do only the will of God?

The Garden of Eden was not in another planet. It existed on this very planet where we live. It is possible to return to our origins right here. But how can you turn bad eyes into good eyes and bring back the original pureness? There is only one solution: the death and burial of our old nature and the new birth, which is given by the Holy Spirit through faith practiced in the Lord Jesus.

This transformation is only possible if your life is surrendered entirely on the Altar. Your dreams, past, future, whatever you have that is most precious, your life, your will, your feelings… absolutely EVERYTHING must stay permanently on the Altar.

Only the Spirit of the Altar has the power to CREATE a NEW LIFE, a NEW BEING that is completely different from the previous one. Only He is able to convince us of our mistakes and work in us the true repentance and death of our old nature, so that we may be born again and have a new mind, a new way of thinking, acting and reacting. A life that is completely based on the Word of the Living God.

Good eyes lead us to the obedience of the Word of God and back to a place where there is no room for doubt. A life where you are not afraid of loss.  A life where there are problems, but they do not bring worries, anxiety, depression and discouragement because pureness produces conviction and confidence. We can count on God’s protection to fight our battles for us. When our entire life is on the Altar, we go back to living in the Garden He prepared for us.
