Touch a nerve

Imagem de capa - Touch a nerve

Eli was a prophet for 40 years and had two sons. He knew the will of God very well, and he was also aware of his sons’ mistakes. They despised God by touching the offerings and sacrifices of the people, and this was a very serious sin in the eyes of God.

In addition, they lived in prostitution, therefore compromising the Salvation of many people because of their bad testimony. Eli rebuked them, but only in a superficial way.

With the authority of a prophet and father, Eli should have touched a nerve, condemned them for stealing, being promiscuous, giving a bad testimony and warned them that, if they continued doing such things, they would go to hell.

Many preach in a superficial manner, because they are afraid to lose church members. Their work is aimed at winning more people for the church, not for the Kingdom of Heaven.

In the case of the sons of Eli, the situation lasted until the arrival of a man of God. Eli was a prophet, but it was necessary for a man of God to profess the truth that the prophet already knew very well.

Therefore, through His servant, God condemned the actions of the sons of Eli. God did not accept the prophet to honor his sons more than Him.

One of the characteristics of a man of God is to speak the truth, whatever the cost, no matter who gets hurt. This man of God did what the prophet did not do, he touched a nerve. HE WAS STRAIGHTFORWARD AND SPOKE THE TRUTH.

for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed. 1 Samuel 2.30

We honor God with our actions, not our words, with our character when we live in truth.

We honor God when He is first in our lives.

We honor God when we go against everyone’s will, including our own, to please Him.

The result of all this: Eli and his sons died.

Death came to the undisciplined, as well as the one who did not discipline them.
