To remember is to live

Imagem de capa - To remember is to live

I received the book from a friend. The next day, at dawn, I started reading. My plan was to read two pages per day. I always do, but it was amazing: the more I read, the more I wanted to read, I couldn’t stop. I only put the book down when I got to the last page, at four o’clock in the afternoon!!

As I read, I got more involved with the story because it reminded me of my father, my mother and my grandmother. Bishop, congratulations on your beautiful story of faith and learning. Thanks for the friendly advice. The message of faith and hope you left in my life.

My friend gave me the book because I was feeling depressed and disappointed with life, in a rut. Through this reading, you allowed me to see Who is the solution to my problems and which path I should take. What I should give up, and what I should do. Thank you, Bishop, for real. Congratulations for The Universal Church. It will be my great pleasure to participate in this Work and study the ways of the Bible, read other books and have the wisdom to move forward.

Yesterday, I finished reading Bishop Macedo’s wonderful book NOTHING TO LOSE. It was a great choice because Bishop Macedo wrote with sincerity. He included touching stories and fantastic testimonies. I’m waiting for the second book he promised to release. One of the posts that caught my attention was the prayer he did on February 5, 2010. What a beautiful prayer, such humbleness! I almost cried. It’s impossible not to feel the presence of God while reading this prayer.

As I look back today, and read about the history of The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, we can say, without a doubt, it was not easy to get where Bishop Macedo is. God, our God, has to honor our dear bishop because of his perseverance, and persistence to never give up on. We can only thank God and Bishop Macedo for listening to the Holy Spirit’s guidance and establishing one of the most blessed Works of God – The Universal Church. Thank you, Bishop.

It’s amazing how God is perfect in all things! My husband and I had fallen away from the faith, but we never went to the Universal Church. I confess that I did not even have a good impression of the Church. One of my husband’s friends, from his job (a new employee that started working there less than a month ago), gave him this book as a gift, and he was touched by what he read. I became curious, because he was never interested in any book, so I decided to read it as well. I was able to identify myself with the bishop’s words, the issues, the many times I thought I had accepted Jesus, the need for forgiveness. This book shattered the negative impressions that I had of the Church and Bishop Macedo, ideas that the media constantly pushes on us. I must confess that it gave us courage and will to seek God. Maybe my husband’s friend doesn’t know it, but this was the best gift I have ever received. And today, God willing, I will go to the Universal Church. Bishop, you are a blessed man, and above all, human.
