The wine and the water

There was a small village in the Italian Alps where people dedicated themselves to the cultivation of grapes to produce wine. Once a year, there was a big festival to celebrate the success of the harvest.
According to tradition, everyone who lived in the village should bring a bottle of the best wine he had to pout into a huge barrel placed in the village square. One of the villagers thought, “Why should I give a bottle of my purest wine? I’ll just bring water. There will be so much wine, that nobody will notice it.” And so he did as he proposed in his heart.
As usual, everyone with a cup in hand, gathered at the square to taste that wine that was so renowned even outside the country’s borders.
However, when they turned on the tap of the wine barrel, there was a huge silence. Inside the barrel was nothing but… water! “If I don’t do my part, nobody will notice” was what every villager thought.
Many times, we are led to think, “There are so many people in the world! If I don’t do my part, it won’t make any difference.” Are you sure?
