The Voice that raises you up
We are all the fruit or result of the voices we have listened to. When we listen to the voice of weak people, we will be weak. When we listen to the voice of the devil, we will be insecure, doubtful, anxious, worried, fearful, because the voice we listen to determines the reactions we have during all the situations we endure.
When we hear the Voice of God, we are strong, courageous, determined, and definite. As it is written:
The Voice of the LORD is powerful; the Voice of the LORD is full of majesty. The Voice of the LORD breaks the cedars, yes, the LORD splinters the cedars of Lebanon. He makes them also skip like a calf, Lebanon and Sirion like a young wild ox. The Voice of the LORD divides the flames of fire. The Voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh. Psalm 29.4-8
The Voice of God will give us the strength to face anything, even death, if necessary, since it is like thunder inside those who hear it.
However, when we stop listening to the Voice of God, we lose complete control of the situation, and not even the miracles we received and seen throughout life are enough to sustain us during our darkest hours.
This is why so many have fallen in the faith. There are so many “exes” among us, men and women who were so used, who experienced the power of God, saw this power in their lives and in the lives of those they cared for. But when they stopped listening to the Voice of God and began listening to the voice of the heart, other men, the world, and especially the devil, they ended up sinking and losing His Greatest Treasure.
The disciples lived through his experience. For three years, they listened to the Voice of Jesus daily, giving them confidence and assurance. But when they were alone, they forgot everything they had seen and heard from the Lord. They were so overwhelmed with fear that they became desperate and hid after His death.
Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20.19-22
Notice that, several times, whenever Jesus said something, it was the Voice of God to strengthen them, renewing their faith. In the end, He breathed the Holy Spirit on them so, from that moment on, He would be in them, working in them, talking to them. By doing so, He would be keeping them strong, which actually happened.
From that moment on, the disciples were born again and became strong like the Lord Jesus said to them.
This shows us the great need to be born again and baptized with the Holy Spirit. It is the only way the Voice of God will be in each one of us, guiding us, teaching us, strengthening us at every moment of our life.
Each person must decide which voice they want to listen to.
When you are weak, thinking about nonsense, feeling discouraged, sad about something or someone, it shows which voice you have been listening to and which voice has been sustaining your thoughts. And this can cause the worst thing ever to happen: losing your Salvation.
But, when you decide to listen to the Voice of God and let It guide you, you’ll be strong, you’ll overcome all the difficulties you’ve been experiencing, and nothing and no one can stop you from winning:
Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. John 5.25
