The Story of Gideon – Part 17
Confusion and victory
Confusion and victory: (Judges 7:22)
The Midianites turn on each other amid the chaos caused by the sound of the trumpets and the breaking of the jars. Fear obliterates thought.
God takes advantage of this fear (which He Himself has provoked amongst His enemies) to make them kill each other, basically multiplying Gideon’s army, since now the invading army is working for Israel, in a way, by wiping out a large part of their own Midianite force without Gideon’s 300 even having to fight.
This is what happens when we trust God and He enters the battle: the enemies and problems themselves end up contributing to our victory. No one can destroy those who have a covenant with God.
The bigger the enemy army, the more people we have working for our own good, even without them wanting to. They work for our own good and their self-destruction in the process. Therefore, there is no need to be afraid of the size of the problem. Absolutely NOTHING threatens the one who is with God.
