The Sleep of Death

Dreams don’t always have to happen while you’re sleeping at night. Those who dream Godly dreams, do so during the day because their faith walks hand in hand with reason.

On the other hand, when you keep your eyes peeled during the day, you prevent yourself from falling into the deep sleep of death. This is exactly what’s happened to the stubborn that have fallen.

One day, they were standing. They conquered significant victories in many areas of their life.

But because they came across a stumbling block in their faith, they were overcome by their feelings and ended up falling away.

They fell away because of sentimental matters; either it was because of love, money or hurt feelings, etc. The exact reason doesn’t matter…

The fact is that they’ve fallen.

Could they have gotten back up? Yes.
Did they know how? Of course!
So, why didn’t they?

Pride.

Pride fueled their thoughts of: What will everyone think of me? I have an image to keep!

That is, they weren’t at all concerned with upsetting the Spirit of God.

One of the great heroes of faith, if not the greatest, once said: “I have sewn sackcloth over my skin, and laid my head in the dust.” Job 16:15

During a time of pain and distress, King David cried out:
“Consider and hear me, O Lord my God; enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death.” Psalm 13:3

Maybe, my friend, you’re sleeping the sleep of death on account of your pride?

Get rid of that, while you’re still alive!
It’s better to live in humility, than go to hell filled with pride.

Pride can only be destroyed through sacrifice.

Have mercy, my Lord, of those who are possessed with the spirit of pride.
