The Red Balloon
There was a man who always worked in the same town square, selling balloons.
He was a great salesman and of course his family depended on him.
Every time he arrived at the town square, he released some balloons to attract customers.
One day, a boy was sitting down on one of the benches, watching as the man released the balloons.
His favorite color was red but the man let go of a yellow balloon first, then a white one, then a green one but he wouldn’t release the red one.
The boy looked up attentively as each one flew by and got upset with the man for not releasing the red balloon.
So he went up to him and asked:
– Sir, will the red balloon fly high like the others if you release it?
The man smiled understandingly at the boy and broke the line holding the red balloon. As it rose into the air, he said:
– It’s not the color, son, it’s what’s inside that makes it rise.
