The book of Acts is based on the work that the Holy Spirit did through the apostles. They were a certain way before receiving the Holy Spirit and a completely different way after receiving Him.

It is clear that God cannot begin His work in a person’s life unless they first receive the Holy Spirit. Without Him, people are only a simple layout of what God can do in them, and through them.

Therefore, regardless of having other goals, plans or problems that need to be solved, a person’s focus must first be to obey what the Lord Jesus commanded:

“And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me.” (Acts 1:4)

Right after His resurrection, the Lord Jesus COMMANDED the apostles not to focus on or get involved in anything other than RECEIVING THE HOLY SPIRIT.

The book of Acts only existed because the apostles received the Holy Spirit.

The other works in your life will be a consequence of receiving the Holy Spirit. Therefore, focus on the command the Lord Jesus gave to the apostles. If it worked for them, why wouldn’t it work for you?
