The good fight - Part 1

“Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword.” (Matthew 10.34)
Few people understand the price of salvation. It is so costly that many preachers have ignored that narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life (Matthew 7.14), trying to facilitate salvation by eliminating the element of sacrifice. In fact, if eternal salvation was easy to achieve, nobody would be lost, there would be no cold or lukewarm Christians, and the Lord would not mention those who overcome in his letters to the churches.
What kind of overcomer does God refer to?
We know that the overcomer is the one who fights and prevails. So, when it comes to salvation, the overcomer is the one who fights until death and remains saved.
Salvation is like marriage: it’s easy to get married; the difficult part is to keep the marriage! Likewise, it’s easy to be forgiven and receive salvation. The difficult part is to remain saved…
What must we overcome in order to be victorious in the eyes of the Lord Jesus?
We must overcome our fleshly desires and our own will.
No one can be an overcomer without having prevailed in battle. The overcomer is not someone who believes himself to be an overcomer, who has extensive knowledge of the Bible, or has been converted for many years.
The overcomer is the one who fights and prevails against sin until death.
