More than 8,000 people attended the Grand Opening in Portugal

Porto, Portugal—August 1, 2010 will forever be marked in the history of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God in Portugal. Why? It was the opening day of the first Cathedral of Faith built not only in that country, but in all of Europe.

Bishop Julio Freitas, who leads the evangelistic work of the Universal Church in Portugal and around Europe, also known as the Spiritual Help Centre, held three meetings for about 9,000 people that day.

During his message, Bishop Julio Freitas explained why the Universal Church has suffered so much persecution:

“We’re here to help everyone: the needy, the sick, the lost, addicts and those who’ve been rejected. Because if the God we believe in exists, He will change their lives. This is what has happened throughout the history of the Universal Church in Portugal and in the other 177 countries where we are.”

The main hall of the new Cathedral of Faith is located on Egas Moniz St. in Porto.
