The eyes
One day, while in church, a woman looked over and noticed how the pastor’s wives were all sitting together. She thought to herself, “Look at them. Isn’t that something? They must think that they’re better than us. Why don’t they sit amongst us?”
That same day, another woman who also happened to look over at them said to herself, “Look how beautiful! All the wives are sitting together; that’s what you call unity!”
On another occasion, the pastor’s wife got all dressed up and one woman said to the other, “Look at her, she’s always so dressed-up. What a show off…”
A young girl looked over at her as well and said, “I want to be just like her! She’s a woman of God; beautiful on the inside and on the outside.”
One day, that pastor was transferred to a new church and the new pastor’s wife didn’t have time to go home and get ready before the meeting. The same woman looked at the new wife and said to her friend, “Look at how ugly she looks. How inconsiderate, she not even dressed properly for church. What an embarrassment to God and to her husband!”
The young woman looked over at her and thought, “She looks tired; may God give her strength.”
Do you know the moral of this story?
“When your eye is good, your whole body is filled with light.”
“What you say flows from what is in your heart.”
“A man is known by the company he keeps.”
“Evil eyes, evil words. Fair eyes, sweet lips.”
