The Curse of Disbelief
There is no blessing or curse without cause. (Proverbs 26.2)
Just as the blessed reaps the fruit of his obedience, the cursed also reap the fruit of their disobedience. (Deuteronomy 28)
Most of the miracles performed by the Lord Jesus were in the cities of Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum. Even so, their inhabitants did not believe in His Word.
For this reason, though located in excellent areas, they are ghost towns. I was there and saw their ruins. Even Capernaum, which is located on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, is completely uninhabited, empty and sad.
Not even their proximity to the Holy Mount makes them interesting to investors. Chorazin, which is on the way to the ascent to Hermon, has been completely taken over by cockroaches.
“Why is this?”, I asked the guide.
His answer was straightforward: it’s cursed.
This reminded me of the majority of believers who, because of disobedience, have lived a cursed life, even though they’ve remained close to the Altar.
Believers, who know the Bible by heart and worship, pray, fast, are loyal to their denominations and pastors, but do not practice what they know. Or rather, they practice what is easy and does not require any sacrifice. They are professional rebellious believers.
They are near Hermon, but their lives are in ruins, like Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum.
Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades. Luke 10.13-15
And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you. Matthew 11.23-24
