The Most High God is THE ONLY LORD; Omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient. In His eternal condition as the LORD, only He has the authority to choose His servants.

Surely, the criterion behind His choosing is given to those who are righteous or at the very least, want to live in righteousness.

Then the LORD said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation. Genesis 7.1

In the midst of a morally and spiritually corroded generation, the Lord found a righteous man: Noah

The chosen ones are the righteous ones or, at least, the ones who meet the necessary conditions to be justified. How many people have been living with a sin they hate? And how many yearn to live in integrity and justice, but are unable to find the strength to abandon their sin?

Sin never leaves anyone at peace. It is impossible to live in sin and be at peace. The Spirit of God is the Spirit of peace.

How can one be chosen to serve God if they are still slaves to sin?

However, even being slaves to sin, if they hunger and thirst for righteousness, the Lord chooses them and provides the faith that justifies them to serve Him. Matthew 5.6

Noah was chosen because he was a righteous man. However, his entire generation was in complete disarray. The spiritual and moral corruption multiplied without any prospect of improvement. Noah and his family were the only humans chosen to enter the Ark of Salvation. Animals of every specie were also separated.

What stands out is the fact that Noah didn’t need to choose the animals, hunt them down and bring them into the Ark. God Himself chose them and lead them, two by two, to the ark. All the rest died along with the human race.

From my perspective, in today’s world the Holy Spirit continues to ‘sift’ and choose people who hate sin; people who want to leave sin but have not been able to do so; people who are blindly looking for salvation in religion.
