Thank you from the United Family Church in Vigo,Spain
Dear Bishop Julio,
I am sending this email on behalf of the members and assistants of the Church in Vigo, Spain. We want to thank you for the opportunity to attend Bishop Macedo’s meeting, which was held in the Cathedral of Porto, in Portugal.
Due to the distance, we end up feeling a bit disconnected from the other churches. So, this meeting was certainly a great revival for each one of us and a step further towards the growth of our church.
For most of the members and assistants, this was the first time we actually participated in a meeting with Bishop Macedo, and this is something that we greatly appreciate.
All this coincides with an important moment because, within a few days, we will be opening a new church, with over a thousand square meters. This is something that motivates us to work even more in our city from now on.
Our caravan to the event in Portugal was composed of 71 people, we took a bus and a few private cars. Some of these people came from La Coruña, which is approximately 100 miles north of Vigo – 20 of them are members of the Youth Group.
These youths enthusiastically and attentively observed everything bishop taught us. Several of them agreed that one of the words that impacted them the most was dedicated to the elderly. They acknowledged that they did not appreciate their parents as much as they should, but from now on they would try their best to listen to their teachings.
The oldest assistant said: “I never thought that the elderly were so important to the work of God. This meeting gave me the strength to win even more souls. ”
Another assistant said: “What struck me the most was hearing bishop say that the people symbolize God to the pastors. It made me think about how I have to give my best for the people, taking care of the souls.”
A young woman, who is originally from Mozambique and is now studying at the University of Vigo, commented that the meeting was an answer to her needs, since she is going through a difficult and delicate moment in her life, she was looking for a solution and she found it.
Another member of the youth group emphasized Bishop Macedo’s vitality and youthful spirit, despite his years. He was very impressed by this.
The simple explanation of how an intelligent and unemotional faith works, something that also impacted many people, especially a Spanish lady, who is a teacher and does not attend our church. This approach of faith called her attention very much, the IMPORTANCE of the mind at the time of decisions, controlling the emotions and practicing these teachings in everyday life. For her, it was a great discovery, a word that gave her life.
These are just a few of the testimonies I gathered, and I know that each person had a different and wonderful experience.
We want to thank you once again for the opportunity, which we value very much, and hopefully, it will be the first of many more.
Kind regards,
In faith,
Dr. Teresa Pérez, Assistant of the UCKG Vigo – Spain
