Spiritual Filet Mignon

I recently visited my family and on my way home, I was reflecting on everything I had heard… which, as a matter of fact, has not changed one bit.

The first time that I was invited to attend a church meeting was when I was a teenager. My husband’s family invited me to their church.

Although they have called themselves “Christian” for a very long time, nothing ever changes in their lives and when it does, it is always for the worse.

They are double-minded. One minute they are full of faith and the next minute they are distant from God. During this back and forth behavior, they have never achieved much and the little they had, they lost. All of them had unsuccessful marriages and are now on their second marriage, they have lots of children, horrible finances and some have even been involved in worse things. Yet, what bothered me the most was the spiritual side.

While I was talking to them that day, I realized that they had frozen in time. They continue to backslide in things that we learn as soon as we are converted to Jesus. Not that this has anything to do with it — because as the pastor said the other day, ‘the Word is the same, people are the same, but there are always new people coming to Church and they need to hear what we heard in the beginning’ — but they have been merely “convinced” for more than 20 years.

When we come before God, He reveals Himself through His Spirit. That is where our journey of faith begins. We start walking towards the Kingdom of God and with each step, we “graduate” in the things of God. He sustains us with His Word. First, He gives us spiritual milk and then, with each step, we are more and more able to handle “solid foods” and so on.

However, those who have an irregular faith always have to start over, after they decide to return to God again. This is so depressing.

I do not consider myself a know-it-all, but with every step, God reveals a little bit more to me. I have been in God’s presence for 12 years and I think I’m at a stage where I’m being fed “soup with a little bit of meat”, lol.

Our advantage at the UCKG is that Bishop Macedo has been in the presence of God for over 40 years and is at a stage where he’s eating “spiritual filet mignon”. Through the Holy Spirit, he passes on that “nutritious” food to the pastors and they pass it on to us. Thank God for that!

It would be great if everyone could have, or wanted this “spiritual filet mignon”, which we are able to enjoy every day!

God bless you!
