Spiritual Authority

Imagem de capa - Spiritual Authority

The universe and everything in it is the result of God’s authority through His Word:

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. Genesis 1.3

From the simplest to the most complex creations of God, man was without a doubt His greatest. He made us according to His image and likeness. However, the similarity is not in our physical appearance, but in the characteristics and traits of His character; in other words, we also inherited His authority! (Genesis 1.26)

One of God’s main characteristics is authority, it is His character in action, whatever He says, happens.

In the beginning, there was only Adam and Eve. They had all the authority and dominion in their hands, so they would take care of the Garden of Eden and enjoy everything in it. It was the perfect environment. The domain was in their hands and God made sure of it, until disobedience triggered disorder, sin opened the doors to human weakness, and the authority was given to the devil.

When Adam and Eve sinned they handed the devil the authority and dominion that was given to them by God Himself. Mankind was given to the works of evil, and the fact that they keep practicing sin, in other words, disobedience, made the authority be annulled and the dominion was lost.

The only way to get back this authority and take back the dominion is to obey the Word of God.

Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Colossians 2.14-15

To disarm is a military term used a lot in the Old Testament, which means to take all of the enemy’s goods and possessions after beating them. Therefore, what did the devil have that the Lord Jesus had to disarm? The authority that He gave back to his disciples that was stolen from Adam and Eve He said:

“Behold, I give you the authority…” Luke 10.19

Authority over pain, suffering, misery, problems and any action of the devil and his demons.

Let us assume this authority that was given to us. For those who believe, obedience to the Word of God is supreme authority.
