Isaiah had a vision of God seated on a high and sublime throne. In the opportunity, he also saw that seraphim, which represent the highest known rank of angels, flew around the throne and glorified the Most High.

And when the prophet felt lost and terrified before such a vision, one of them, complying with God’s command, flew to him to save him with a live coal from the altar (Isaiah 6.1-7).

That’s the only biblical information we have about this special class of angels.

Directly assisting the Holy One, they seem to occupy the most relevant position among the angels.

However, in His letter addressed to the church in Laodicea, the Lord Jesus makes one of the most magnificent promises to the one who overcomes: to sit with Him on the throne, as He is also seated on the throne with His Father (Revelation 3.21).

The promise is repeated in a different way to the church in Philadelphia, when it says to the one who overcomes, “I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more” (Revelation 3.12).

Thus, we see that the final position of those who overcome will be infinitely more relevant than that of the greatest heavenly beings.

It’s good to remember that the overcomer mentioned here does not refer to people who are saved “by the bell”, that is, those who are saved right before dying. No! A thousand times, no!

The latter will be saved, but the glorious reward is promised only to those who fight and overcome.

The overcomer is the one who faces difficulties in his journey of faith and, like Jesus, endures offence, injustice, pain, hunger, thirst, slander, persecution and even death for the Lord’s sake, and remains faithful until the end!
