It seemed impossible to change
Between the ages of 13 and 14, I became involved in crime, and that caused me to get into many problems. I was arrested at the age of 17, and at that time the feeling of power deceived me. I had several assault rifles; I became the right-hand of the leader of the slums. In the eyes of man, I was happy.
But in reality, there was a void in me that I tried to fill with parties, weapons, motorcycles, drugs, crime…
My mother suffered a lot because of me. I was always in danger, to the point of someone telling her I had died.
God kept me safe in a particular situation where the cops surrounded me during an operation and I was almost hit by a bullet. They would come to the slums with photo albums and search for us. My life was a complete failure.
Another moment that negatively marked my life was when a friend of ours was shot in the leg, and I had to carry him to his family.
I tried to fill the void with all the flashiness, but my attempts were always frustrated. The consequences didn’t seem greater than the momentary pleasures.
I went to the world because I was influenced by my brother’s example, who was also involved with crime and apparently had everything he wanted. I only saw what he had, but I didn’t see the consequences he faced in life.
When I was arrested, I suffered great torment. All I did was cry. Until, at the age of 18, I gave my life to Jesus and was transformed. Today I am in the faith, serving God.
