Rabbi Eckstein visits the Temple of Solomon
For over 2,000 years, Jews have been harassed and silently blamed for the death of the Lord Jesus by the Western and Christian world. This had cruel consequences, such as anti-Semitism, which led to the death of millions of people.
While some insist on focusing on the differences that generate misunderstandings, the Temple of Solomon, built in Brazil’s state capital, has shown that what unites us is much stronger than the differences that separate us.
This site is a biblical and historical reference for the people of God. This is why it has attracted Jews from around the world.
On Sunday (29), we received Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein for the second time. He has promoted a good relationship between Jews and Christians throughout the world for 35 years.
In order to fulfill this mission, he founded the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, which like the Universal, also supports the State of Israel.
During his first visit, he was received by bishop Macedo and Renato Cardoso, got a tour of the Temple premises and attentively listened to all of the explanations given.
“My first observation about this place is the minute details, which root from the Bible to the faith of the people. The second is the fact that this is a House of Prayer for all, not only Christians – this is very important,” said the rabbi, showing satisfaction and recognition.
During the meeting, everyone had the opportunity of receiving the teachings of faith and participate of the Lord’s Supper. In the end, bishop Macedo mentioned that the rabbi was present and invited him to the Altar.
“We, Christians, must not have thoughts of rejection or hate toward the Jews. We should be thankful to them. We understand and appreciate what the Jews did by sacrificing the Lord Jesus, as an offering to the Eternal God. By Divine Law, no one else could have done this, “said the bishop.
Then, the rabbi recognized how much the Universal Church values Israel and thanked everyone for their prayers and words.
The meeting ended with a prayer for peace in Israel, as the psalmist says in Psalm 122.6-8.
Bishop Miguel, who accompanied him throughout his visit, said a prayer in Hebrew, the rabbi said a prayer in English and bishop Macedo ended with a prayer in Portuguese. During his prayer, Eckstein quoted the words of Jacob, “This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.” Genesis 28.17
Our confession of faith and fidelity to the Most High goes hand in hand and should also produce permanent results.
This visit is proof that Jews and Christians can come together to fulfill the Almighty’s mission to show His glory to the world.
The root of Christianity is Jewish, so we must respect them. Their patriarchs, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are live references for us as well.
