Prayer has its secrets. It has to be made under the terms of its Creator, not the creation.

Ana followed the prayer traditions for many years. She went to the Temple on a regular basis, offered her prayers along with the offerings her husband gave her – but everything remained the same. Until:

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, “O LORD of hosts!” 1 Samuel 1.10-11

In these few words lies a great secret for an effective prayer: it must have body, soul and spirit!

BEFORE, Ana offered sacrifices that her husband gave her; she continued to be bitter, sad, and thinking that God had closed her womb.

But AFTER offering her own sacrifice, she left her bitterness on the altar, and refused to believe her infertility was the will of God, she was answered!
