Our daily battle
Though we are born again we are not immune to sin, the Bible reveals. After all, we have a physical body, and throughout our time on earth sin is always a risk—we always have to fight against the desires of the flesh. However:
Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. 1 John 3.9
God’s seed exists in the new inner self of children of God, whose nature is spiritual. They view sin as a foreign entity—they reject it right away, they rebuke it. The conflict between sin and our spiritual nature torments the souls of those who make mistakes, and confession is the only solution. This is the only way to rid ourselves of the heavy conscience of sin, to enjoy a light conscience, and to once again move mountains with a healthy faith.
Those who have not yet been born of God are passive toward sin. Sin and their fleshly inner selves are in harmony; there is friendship between the two.
…whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. 1 John 3.6
This explains why some assistants live in sin and fail to confess it. They are not born of God—their inner selves welcome sin. On the other hand, those who sin and immediately confess and turn their backs on it, do this because their spiritual nature cannot bear anything that is toxic and disgusting to the Holy Spirit—who dwells in them.
What about your inner self, assistant? Is your nature spiritual or fleshly? If you’ve made friends with your sin and refused to confess it, your soul is still very much alive. You’re a child of Adam:
…The first man Adam became a living soul. 1 Corinthians 15.45 (NASB)
If you have sinned and are troubled because of it… If you have deep sorrow because of your sin… If there is a huge conflict within you… If you are devoid of peace and can no longer stand your situation… confess. Then you will become a child of the last Adam (Jesus), a life-giving spirit, (1 Corinthians 15.45).
What if took the opportunity to confess right now? (If this sin involves someone else—adultery or any other type of sexual immorality—you must also confess to the leadership of the Church… to your pastor or bishop, because you hold a position in the Church.) On the other hand, if you fail to confess and the time for your departure from this world arrives, where will your soul go?
THINK ABOUT THIS.
May the Spirit of God bless you!
