Old wine

At the beginning of my conversion, I had a strong desire to know more about the things of God, which is natural.

At that time, there were many people inviting me to visit their churches. They’d also give me books written by other pastors. Whenever I switched on the radio or the TV, I’d always find someone talking about the Bible.

The funny thing is that, when I was an unbeliever, no one invited me to go to a church or gave me a book to read.

But the minute I started making my chain of prayer for my deliverance, the invitations started coming.

I had to make a decision to either accept or reject them. Without any doubt, that would make a difference in my life.

My feelings wanted me to give in to the invitations, but common sense said, “No, no!”

Think. If you are feeling good, then why listen to other people, read other books or go to other churches?

One Sunday, Bishop Macedo preached about the importance of taking care of our faith. He said that we should not mix new wine with old wine; otherwise, we would become religious Christians, having a lot of knowledge, but unsuccessful, lifeless.

“And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.” Mark 2.22

The bishop said, “The old wine is the letter without spirit, whilst the new wine is the Word of God with Spirit.”

“The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 2 Corinthians 3.6

The devil is working, and he’s using his servants inside the churches.

We cannot forget that he used the Word of God in the desert to try and deceive the Lord Jesus.

This is why we must be able to discern where the Word is coming from. We must test the spirits.

In regards to our faith, we have no doubt, do we?
