Therefore put to death your members which are on earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry… Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him… Colossians 3.5, 8-10

The only way for someone to have God’s nature, this is, to receive the Holy Spirit, is to put to death his human nature.

Sometimes a person prays, fasts, does purposes, everything for the Lord Jesus to work within him, to receive the Holy Spirit, when, in fact, he needs to put to death his old nature.

This is when the Holy Spirit comes to transform you according to the image of Him who created you!
