''Nothing to Lose'' reaches world record sales in South Africa
The first official release of the book “Nothing to Lose” in Africa ended on Saturday, Jan. 26, with world record sales in the city of Johannesburg in South Africa
A total of 101,235 copies of Bishop Macedo’s memoir were purchased during the event at the famous and acclaimed Apartheid Museum, a monument that recalls the sufferings of the period of racial segregation in the country.
So far, this has been the highest number of book sales out of the 36 releases of “Nothing to Lose” in Brazil and abroad.
This event also marked the release of the English edition of the book.
According to the Museum representatives, over 55 thousand people were present, forming mile long lines that took over the entire parking lot of the historic building.
The night before, a pre-release of the book gathered government representatives, military officials, businessmen, doctors, engineers, lawyers, artists, and other South African celebrities in the conference hall of the main hotel at Mandela Square, also in Johannesburg.
They all received autographed copies of the book and learned a bit more about Edir Macedo’s story of faith and achievements. The representative of the UCKG in South Africa, Bishop Marcelo Pires, attended the event alongside the co-author of the book, the Brazilian journalist and writer Douglas Tavolaro.
In the Apartheid Museum, the crowd, mostly dressed in traditional costumes, celebrated the arrival of the book with lots of dancing and joy at the sound of the contagious African music.
The place that recalls the death of thousands of blacks today celebrated life with the book “Nothing to Lose”.
