Jesus is the Word.

Belief in Him is much more than believing in His existence or following a religion in His Name.

If this were enough, the majority of Christians would not be living such defeated lives.

Belief in Him means hearing and obeying His Word.

Abraham had no Bible. For him to hear and obey the Lord, God had to actually speak to him.

Later on, the Lord spoke to His servants through dreams, visions and prophecies.

Today, God only speaks through Jesus, the Word, through the preaching of the Holy Scriptures.

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high…” Hebrews 1.1-3.

Accepting Jesus means accepting His Voice, His Word, putting it into practice and obeying it, in other words, wholly submitting to it.

Demons believe in Jesus and even tremble.

And yet, what difference does this make? None at all.

For most believers it’s the same. They believe in Jesus the way that demons do.

Though demons believe in Jesus, they refuse to obey Him. As do rebellious believers.

They believe in Jesus, but don’t obey Him.

What’s the difference between them and demons? None whatsoever.

Demons’ lives do not change because they are perpetual rebels, and rebellious believers’ lives do not change either because they insist in disobeying the Word.

James lets his frustration be know for disrespectful believers when he says:

“You have faith, and I have works. Show me your faith without your work, and I will show you my faith by my works,” James 2.18.

In other words, what’s the point of saying you believe in Jesus when you don’t obey His Word?

Can this faith save anyone?

Can this faith change anyone’s life?

This is why many believers pray, fast, worship and stand up for their respective churches, while their lives are like a wilderness. Not even crab grass grows there.

If Jesus is the Word, we need to practice that Word!

That is worth more than all fasting, prayers, vigils and church attendance, in other words, it’s worth more than anything.

To obey Jesus’s Word is to follow Jesus.

To do God’s will is to practice Jesus’ Word.
