My experience at the Temple of Solomon

templo1

Good morning, Bishop!

My family and I had the opportunity to visit the Temple of Solomon. Despite having been back home for some time now, I wanted to wait and “digest” the entire trip so I wouldn’t be fooled by any emotions.

Bishop, this was the best decision my family and I made.

On the first day in Sao Paulo, we had the opportunity to participate in the prayer for the petitions of the Israel Challenge at the Church in Bras, right next to the Temple. I can tell you that it was splendid. The Presence of God was so strong at that moment that at the end of the prayer, my wife and I mentioned to each other how we felt renewed and strengthened. We were certain that our covenant with God was renewed. It felt as if we were physically inside the Temple with all the pastors and bishops.

The experience I had was so strong that I can truly say my goal was achieved. If I had to return to Portugal that day, I would happily go back because, at that moment, I was certain that the Lord Jesus had not given up on me and still counts on me. I felt such joy that I cannot find an adjective to fittingly express my happiness.

Captura-de-Tela-2015-08-17---s-20.16.26Then, we had the opportunity to get a tour of the Temple: to be inside the Tabernacle was a glorious experience. After our guide explained about each part of the Tabernacle, we entered the Holy of Holies, which was truly magnificent.

We also saw a video that told the story of the importance of Mount Moriah. This was very strong Bishop!

But the best was yet to come: the Temple of Sacrifice. The big moment came on Sunday, at 5:30 am. As I took the first steps into this Holy Place, I felt no emotions, I felt nothing out of the ordinary, but I can guarantee that the presence of God was strong, so strong that I could not hold back the tears. Tears of joy and gratitude for being in that Holy Place.

Bishop, we participated in 3 meetings and I must tell you that I only noticed the walls of the Temple and the architectural details on the third day, which was on Monday. However, what’s most important is not the beauty of this place, but its Holiness and how strong the presence of my Lord Jesus can be felt there. It was a sublime, wonderful and ONE OF A KIND experience.

The trip was and has been a sacrifice, but it was surely the best investment of my life. It was worth every penny, because I can definitely say that I went in search of the ONE and received HIM in my life. I feel like another man since returning from the Temple of Sacrifice.

Thank you,

John Philip – Portugal
