Letter from the father of an ex-addict
Dear Bishop Rogerio Formigoni, as Luciano Ricardo Marques’ father, who was your friend, it is with profound respect and great pleasure that I express my satisfaction for seeing you on July 31st, 2014, at the inauguration of the Temple of Solomon.
Believe me, your explanation was so clear that everyone was stunned by your claim that addiction is curable through faith and perseverance, because you are an example of someone who was healed over 20 years ago.
When you lived in Lucelia – SP, Luciano also took part of those late nights and orgies fueled by crack and cocaine. My suffering, as a father, and Nadir, as a mother, seemed endless. Even here in Bauru, Luciano was an active drug user. Thankfully, Luciano began his involvement with the Universal Church in Bauru and was delivered from that spirit of addiction. He is now a man of God, renewed by faith, and we have many hopes for the transformation that occurred in his life.
Faith is believing in what we are not yet seeing. Many people want to see to believe, but when we see, we are not believing, we’re just confirming facts.
God cannot be explained. The idea of God comes to be infinitely greater than us. Wise, Almighty, Eternal, Perfect… Hence the fact that He is not limited to being defined by man.
After the inauguration of the Temple, you must have been exhausted, but I am convinced that your heart, your soul, was weightless because you were chosen to perform such a memorable responsibility. Your friends, and superiors, were certainly quite happy with how you executed such responsibilities, because I’m sure that during those memorable moments you depended on inspiration from the Holy Spirit.
I appreciate your presence in Belo Horizonte, because my son was almost turning away from the Church because of life’s heavy burdens and the discouragement caused by day-to-day stress. When you arrived, so filled with faith to perform the meeting, injecting the love of God into the life of each person, my son stopped considering leaving the Church, and it’s been four years since he was healed and remains in the faith of God.
Congratulations on your speech before a full house, where the highest authorities to express power over our country were present. Emotions invaded their hearts with each word you professed.
I admire you for being enlightened by the Holy Spirit, courageous, fearless and having the gift of the Word.
I wish God grants you, bishop Rogerio Formigoni, a long life filled with good health.
To finish, I would like to quote Psalm 133:
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, descending upon the mountains of Zion; for there the Lord commanded the blessing – life forevermore.
May my God, who is the God of Abraham, always be present in your words to restore people and bring great joy to their family!
Congratulations, and may God bless you always!
Regards,
Jose Aparecido Marques
