Leave and Go

Imagem de capa - Leave and Go

The Lord had said to Abram, “LEAVE your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and GO to the land that I will show you.”  Genesis 12:1 (NLT)

As we have learned, leaving Haran means leaving everything that deforms the IMAGE of God in a child of Abraham, by faith, sincerity and revolt.

These people can be found in a church or in any religious, social, financial, spiritual or intellectual group of people.

Haran can be sin, misery, a broken family, depression… anything that is at odds with the IMAGE of God. It’s good to remember that we were all created to reflect His IMAGE (Genesis 1:27).

We have noticed that some people leave Haran but do not go to Canaan. They just hang around in the vicinity of Haran. Did they walk through the door?  Yes, in a way. But they didn’t begin the 900-kilometer journey to Canaan.

Though this journey is hard, cruel, and involves exposure to a burning sun and all sorts of danger, that is where God wants to do the greatest miracles in our lives: the encounters we have with God on the Altars that we build along the way, the new birth that comes with the sacrifices we make to maintain our communion with God, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit that comes as God’s oath or seal in our lives.

The problem with disobeying the order to “GO” is that we continue to hang around Haran, and so, at the sign of the smallest problem or with the pressure of adversity, we go back. Sadly, this has happened to many!

Let’s go to Canaan? It will be 900 kilometers of fantastic experiences with the God of Abraham.
