Joy amidst a wake

May God bless you Bishop,

I would like to share a story of sadness that turned into joy.

In Africa, it’s common to have the closest family member deliver a eulogy whenever someone dies. During a woman’s wake, ten of her children wrote a letter and read it aloud. This letter brought us much joy. In fact, the Lord’s thoughts are definitely higher than ours. I made sure to ask them for the letter, so that I could share it with you.

With conviction, they said, “Ohhh, What a Day!”

Bishop João Leite.

The Letter:
“Seventeen years ago, our mother came to know the Lord Jesus Christ through the UCKG. After so many years of suffering, she finally decided to leave the Catholic Church. She claimed to have found the solution to all of the problems that were tormenting her life. That’s how she managed to bring all of her ten children to church.

As young children, she taught us to honor our father and mother so that we may live long and that we should always follow the path of the Lord so that He could steer us to salvation.

She told us that she often prayed that on the day she died, God would take her and her daughter. She had a birth defect and our mother knew that nobody could care for her the same way she did.

And that’s exactly what happened. God answered her prayers.

Also, she always said how her greatest wish was to die in church, praising God and seeking His presence. And that’s what happened. They died in His presence, which assures us that their souls were saved.

Another one of our mother’s prayers was answered by God because she died inside the church.”
