Inauguration ''inside and outside'' of the newest UCKG Cathedral in South Africa
Everyone knows that the next FIFA World Cup will be in South Africa. Due to this, the country has been experiencing several structural renovations and large-scale constructions. But this time, our focus is set on the magnificent cathedral that the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God has just opened in its capital, Johannesburg, specifically in Park Station. The capacity of the Temple is for about 6.8 thousand people.
Three years ago their old church was completely demolished and a new project began taking place until today, the long-awaited opening of the Cathedral. Although the new church has four thousand more seats than the old one, we still weren’t able to accommodate all of the people who attended the event.
The street that leads to the Cathedral was closed off to traffic in order to fit the five thousand people who were standing outside. Still, there wasn’t enough space. Many used balconies to get a better look at the event through a large projector screen, which broadcasted live images of everything that happened inside this grand church.
Inside the Cathedral, Bishop Edir Macedo, taught everyone the importance of obtaining their “inauguration to a new life” because seeking and receiving the presence of God is the greatest miracle to achieve. After making the people aware of this, the bishop held prayers for those who wished to inaugurate a new life.
The inauguration was attended by many political leaders, along with the participation of several choirs, including: The Universal Choir; Women in Action (made up of pastors’ wives) and The Othandweni Orphanage Choir (an orphanage supported by the UCKG through campaigns and fundraisers).
By the end of this abundantly beautiful event, joy was evident in everyone’s eyes.
