In Spirit and Truth
God is spirit.
Therefore, His Son, teaches us that He is seeking worshipers who will worship Him in spirit and truth.
When He says in spirit, the Lord means to removes all kinds of human emotions. That is, He’s excluding the emotions that are provoked by songs and the sounds of instrumental music.
Not that hymns and holy songs are bad. But, truth be told, until you are born of the Spirit, you won’t be able to worship in spirit, nor in truth. How can you worship in spirit, if you don’t have the nature of the Holy Spirit?
Unfortunately, in most cases, the believer is so involved by the emotional appeal of music that they end up surrendering to the whims of the heart.
God is spirit. Only those who are born of the Holy Spirit are spirit as well. They are no longer just a living being, ruled by emotions and a soft heart.
During the process of deliverance and new birth, many confuse the spiritual with the emotional. And that’s where evil spirits mislead them with illusions.
Worshiping in spirit and truth requires human logic, that is, your intellect…
God is spirit. This means that He possess all the intelligence and wisdom. How could He accept worship drenched in pure human emotion?
Jesus did many miracles and gathered large crowds. And He hardly received any glory for doing so. But when certain Greeks requested to see him, He said: “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified.” John 12:23
Why hadn’t He been glorified before, when he blessed the people? Because He knew that the glory received from those He healed was motivated by miracles and not because He was the Son of God.
The circumstances were different with the Greeks. They were intelligent and wanted to SEE the Son of God.
The same is true among people today. They glorify Jesus because of His favors and not for what was accomplished at Calvary.
Despite their sincerity, many Christians do not understand that emotional worship is meaningless and brings no benefits. Instead, it opens the door allowing evil spirits to come in.
That is exactly what has happened in recent times. This so-called “falling in the spirit” has led many to deviation. Unaware of the truth, they enter into a “trance” (possessed by demons) and fall to the ground as if they were dead. Others, also possessed, crawl around on their knees claiming to be lions, like the Lion of the tribe of Judah.
During a time when the Lord God should be receiving the best worship in spirit and truth, the devil is celebrating by receiving the “glory of the flesh.”
Deceiving spirits use the bodies of the unwary to “worship” in the flesh (emotion) and lies (deception).
Dear reader, be careful not to be deceived.
For the love of the Lord, for your salvation, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, never offer God something that didn’t cost you anything.
To worship in spirit, requires the use of the human spirit for the Spirit of God. It involves simple, sincere words that are full of gratitude, conviction and true love. Words of recognition for all that He did for you.
This Sunday, come to church determine to worship Him in spirit and truth.
As you read this message, the Holy Spirit touches you, assuring that He will help you worship His Son in spirit and truth.
Be blessed in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
