Immature Faith
Have you ever watched children playing? They’re so pure and innocent; they easily grab our attention and can keep any adult entertained.
However, their attitudes aren’t always pleasant. At times, they’re difficult to control and act out on impulse, especially when they want something they can’t have. Many become spoiled and sometimes even unruly.
This happens because their emotions are on edge. They don’t think things through or fully consider the consequences; they have no sense of danger… absolutely none!
The same happens with those who are immature in the faith. They think that our Heavenly Father must meet all of their needs immediately, regardless of what His will may be.
Such a childish spirit might even be understandable, if it weren’t for them threatening to leave the faith. As if the Lord needs them.
Others, have invested many years to building real castle-sized problems for themselves. And whenever they use their faith, they want it to work like a magic wand to solve their problem overnight.
Yet, there are those whose faith doesn’t mature because of their jealous and quarrelsome character flaws. For this kind of “Christian” the apostle Paul said:
“Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly—mere infants in Christ. I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?” I Corinthians 3:1-3
