How to draw near to God?

We are about to go up to Mount (Altar) Carmel, and in order for the fire to come down it is important that we pay attention certain details. This is why the Holy Spirit shows us how we should draw near to God:

“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscienceand our bodies washed with pure water.”(Hebrews 10:22)

True heart– Means a sincere heart, without hypocrisy. Elijah was sincere when he revolted against the situation of the people who were faltering between two thoughts, because there was an Almighty God who was with Him. If you believe in that God and do not accept the life that you are living, then be sincere when approaching the Altar to present your life as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.

Full assurance of faith– Jesus never required us to have a great faith, however, the faith we have must be entirely pure, without any trace of doubt or emotion. The courage Elijah had when he challenged the 450 prophets of Baal was a sign that he had full assurance. If you are in that faith, then throw yourself onto the Altar by challenging all your problems.

Hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience– If there is any type of sin that could hinder your attitude of faith, confess it, then:

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  (1John 1:9)

Our bodies washed with pure water– Not only the body will be washed, but mainly the soul. Elijah’s courageous faith was due to the fact that he had a clear conscience, because he lived in obedience to the Word of God, constantly, therefore:

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23)
