Heroes of yesterday and today
When we speak about heroes, it is understood that we’re dealing with individuals that have the power and drive to overcome in an extraordinary way, regardless of the problem, obstacle or enemy.
Men of the past were considered heroes because of what they did.
No one can close the mouths of lions, but they did.
No one can survive a fiery furnace, but they escaped.
They put foreign armies to flight.
They were stoned, tested, sawed in two and did not accept release so that they might gain a better resurrection.
They were genuine heroes.
They defeated enemies that were considered invincible, since they were as numerous as the sand on the seashore.
They were considered heroes because they did what no human being could do.
They overcame what no human being could overcome.
They gave what no human being could give to God.
They were considered crazy because they reached a point of extreme obedience to God.
Saying I can’t, I’m not going to make it or it’s impossible was not an option for them. No was not a part of their vocabulary, but rather yes.
They became heroes through obedience.
They were heroes in the past, but God searches for heroes today.
The devil puts lions, furnaces, walls, giants, countless enemies, the Red Sea and the desert as obstacles between people and what they want today, and God allows these obstacles so that real heroes can rise to the surface.
I become a hero today by obeying, like they obeyed.
By giving God what men consider impossible to give.
By doing things that are impossible for people, and overcoming what nobody could overcome.
After all, it is written:
“So you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him,” Malachi 3.18.
How can I serve this God, the same God that these heroes served, and not be a hero myself?
Heroes obey, give, act and overcome.
Thank God, many heroes have risen up in Campaigns of Faith, like the present one of Mount Moriah.
I wonder, could you be considered a hero, like Abraham and other heroes of the past?
