Get rid of the trash!
One day, I took a taxi to the airport. We were driving in the right lane, when suddenly a black car sped out of the parking lot right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, swerved and missed the other car by inches. The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.
My taxi driver just smiled, waved at the guy and gave him a thumbs-up. He was quite friendly. Outraged, I asked him, “Why did you do that? That guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!” That’s when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, ‘The Garbage Truck Law’.
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustrations, anger and disappointments. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you. You shouldn’t take it personally. It’s not your problem, it’s theirs. Just smile, wave, wish them well and keep on moving.
Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, AT HOME or on the street.
Stay calm, breathe AND LET THE GARBAGE TRUCK PASS. The bottom line is that happy people don’t let garbage trucks take over their day. Life is too short; don’t carry around garbage with you. Get rid of the bad feelings, work-related stress, nitpicking, hatred and frustrations. Love those who treat you right and treat right the ones who don’t.
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it.
Have a nice day and remember: Get rid of the trash!
