First Meeting in Brazil
At the beginning of March, we celebrated 461 years since the 1st Evangelical Meeting took place in Brazil.
The meeting, led by Pastor Pedro Richier, celebrated the arrival of the French Huguenot expedition (retired Protestants of the same lineage of the Presbyterian Church), in the Bay of Guanabara, Rio de Janeiro.
The 1st Lord’s Supper was on 03/21/1557, when the 1st Evangelical Church in Brazil was also structured.
The entire expedition sent by Calvin was murdered, 11 months later, on 02/09/1558, in a Jesuit plot, but the bloodshed by these missionaries was a seed planted on Brazilian land that, over time, transformed Brazil into one of the world’s greatest evangelical nations.
May God bless the Brazilian nation!
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.Psalms 33.12
