Fanaticism or Faith?
“Above all, taking the shield of faith…”
“Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” Ephesians 6:16
“Above all”, or in other words – nothing can be left out; It really is above all. Everything has to be about faith. Everything has to be by faith and, in everything, there has to be faith.
In order to stand firm, faith has to be everywhere – in marriage, family, relationships, needs, battles, trials, injustices, tribulations, deserts, in winning or losing.
Someone is going to be used by the devil to tell us that this is fanaticism. What do you think these people would have said to Daniel, Elijah, Moses, Abraham, Meshach and even Jesus? Were they fanatics? Was it another time?
The shield of faith is a faith that is active, at all times, in order to protect, guard and keep us standing strong. The darts of the devil come from everywhere, but he tries to hit mainly what is most sensitive. He knows that, that is where a person is most likely to open their shield and then, he can inflame their inner self with doubt, fear, grudges, anxiety, hatred, dissatisfaction, malice, etc.
We cannot open our shields under any circumstance! We have to be vigilant, for the days ahead are very hard. We see people who seemed to be a fortress in their faith once, but collapsed. This is because they despised the shield and thought that with their ideas, plans, strength, rights and reasons, they would be able to win.
We cannot falter. We are at war and the number of darts that come to inflame us increases as the time for the Lord Jesus’ return draws nearer.
So, let us go steadfast, from faith to faith.
