Faith that makes my blood boil
What more could we say about Abraham that has not already been said?
And yet, there is one thing that few have learned.
The experiences of this hero of faith made him a reference point for the Living God on Earth.
This is not clear when we talk to people about God.
After all, every human being chooses his or her own gods.
In sports, fanatical fans make their stars into gods.
In the world of music, still other fanatics make singers into gods.
In every area of success, people’s fanaticism always makes someone into a god.
Each idol worshipper has his or her own gods.
But how can we distinguish the One, true Lord God from all the rest?
How can we tell the difference between a child of God and an idol worshipper?
The title “god” means one who is worshiped.
If you worship your child, that constitutes idolatry.
The worship of any human, animal or object constitutes idolatry.
Because of this, believing in God means little or nothing to many.
However, Abraham’s way of believing, forever changed the idea of an intelligent belief in God.
His relationship with the Invisible Lord teaches us this…
By calling upon the God of Abraham we direct our faith, in an intelligent manner, to the Lord that revealed Himself to Abraham, made him promises and fulfilled those promises down to the smallest detail.
Among the religions of the world, which god did this for his followers?
Does anyone know of a god that fulfilled promises in the manner that the God of Abraham did?
He, and only He honoured, and continues to honor Abraham and his children in faith.
Abraham went beyond the blessing itself.
He was, is and always will be the reference point of God for the world
When I pray and direct my thoughts to the God of Abraham in the name of the Lord Jesus, my faith is awakened.
When I pronounce “God of Isaac”, my faith increases.
When I fully focus on the God of Israel, my blood boils with faith and I forget that I am in this world.
When I use my faith in the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Israel, it is as if I am climbing the ladder of faith to the Throne of the Almighty.
You should experience this too.
When challenging the prophets of Baal, the prophet Elijah knew that his life was at stake. If there were no immediate response to his prayer, he would be killed. And so he prayed:
“Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word,” 1 Kings 18.36.
His prayer lasted less than 20 seconds, and then the fire came down.
The glorious manifestation of the Eternal and Only God, the Unknown among the nations, began with Abraham.
Abraham teaches that there is no limit to what we can conquer by faith, and that we should not hold back when practicing an intelligent faith.
This unconditional obedience to the Voice of God was his “cross” from the very beginning, when he started his walk with the Most High.
Through him we learn that the size of our faith is measured by the degree of our sacrifice.
Through him we learn to live by faith.
Through him we learn to separate faith from emotion, from feelings of the heart.
Through him we learn to sacrifice.
Through him we discover the existence of the Eternal Creator-God.
