Depart from Me
Strong. Extremely strong. Especially for those who do the Work of God.
Like it is written in Isaiah 61:1, Jesus’ message is intended for the oppressed.
Sometimes, He would interrupt his messages and encourage people to use their faith, like in ask, seek and knock – for the salvation of their body. In other occasions, His messages were focused on the salvation of the soul, like in – and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
But in Matthew 7:13-23, He stresses at least 7 main points:
1 – enter by the narrow gate;
2 – beware of false prophets;
3 – every good tree bears good fruit;
4 – every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire;
5 – not everyone who believes will enter the kingdom of heaven;
6 – only those who do the will of God;
7 – those who do His Work.
It’s interesting how He emphasizes the MANY who do the Work of God, who on that day will say to Him: “Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?”
Those who do God’s will take care of their salvation; those who do the Work of God take care of other people’s salvation. However, there is no point in gaining the whole world, allowing your relationship with God to become distanced and in the end, losing your own soul.
Obviously, those who are born of God think like Him and want to win souls. However, many are supposedly doing the Work of God, but not because of their love for the souls. Instead, they do it thinking only of themselves. Paul calls them peddlers of the Word of God. 2 Corinthians 2:17
On that Day, they will hear: “Depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.”
True servants surrender their lives, give up their dreams and live to fulfill God’s dreams. They don’t only do His Work, but above all, they obey His will.
