Day 12 of the Fast of Daniel
Fear and Reverence
Why do those who have a closer relationship with God have a greater reason to present themselves before Him with fear and reverence?
When it comes to the tabernacle, God gave a detailed description of the priests’ work, their clothes and their services; everything was done through very clear instructions.
Aaron and his sons were consecrated during seven days, and only after that, they began to do their priestly work.
But when they were CARELESS…
Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the LORD, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the LORD and devoured them, and they died before the Lord. Leviticus 10.1-2
They were irreverent and disrespectful; they treated what was sacred as common, when God had commanded them not to do it that way.
Nowadays, many have presented profane fire because they despise the guidance of the Holy Spirit by living their life their own way.
In verse 6, Moses tells Aaron, Eleazar and Ithamar not to mourn the death of Nadab and Abihu, but to bewail the fire that the Lord kindled, because they had transgressed His instructions.
Nadab and Abihu were careless with the things of God and became irreverent.
Have we also become careless?
Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with REVERENCE and godly FEAR. For our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12.28-29
Grace was given to us so that can serve God in a way that pleases Him, with REVERENCE and godly FEAR.
If you believe in God, but do not use this faith to obey Him, then your faith has no value!
God bless us!
