Curse and doubt
There is no blessing or curse without a cause, Proverbs 26.2
The same way that the blessed reap the fruit of their obedience, the cursed also reap the fruit of their disobedience, Deuteronomy 28
Most of the miracles performed by Jesus were in the cities of Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum. However, their inhabitants did not believe in His Word.
Because of this, although they were well located, they became ghost towns. I have been there and seen their ruins. Even Capernaum, which is located on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, is completely uninhabited, empty and sad.
Not even their proximity to the Sacred Mountain makes them interesting to investors. Chorazin, which is along the way during the ascent of Mount Hermon, is completely infested with cockroaches.
Why is this? I asked the guide.
His answer was short and dry: A curse.
Then I remembered that most Christians, because of their disobedience, have lived a cursed life, despite being close to the Altar.
They know the Bible by heart, they praise Him, pray, fast, are loyal to their denominations and pastors, but do not practice what they know. Or rather, they practice what is easy and requires no sacrifice.
They are professionally rebellious Christians.
They are near Hermon, but their lives are in ruins, like Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum.
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades,” Luke 10.13-15
“And you, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, will be brought down to Hades; for if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say to you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment than for you,” Matthew 11.23-24
