Chance and Bad Luck
Whoever thinks that success in life comes by chance will end up dying of bad luck. Both are tools of evil that encourage laziness and discouragement in the hearts of the incautious.
Who wins when it comes to ideas of chance?
Casino owners are the only winners when it comes to chance, but even they lose everything in the end. No good can come from the use of a tool of evil.
Do you suppose that God grants an abundant life to people by chance?
Of course not! If chance were a tool of God, the Lord Jesus would not have given His life to rescue the world from hell.
The truth is that chance is fictional and illusionary. It fosters hollow, empty hope that has no biblical or scientific basis whatsoever. It’s like a person trying to climb a greased pole — he tries again and again, and will die having gotten nowhere.
A gambler waits for his moment of luck, and one “beautiful” day it arrives. And then, when he’s placed his entire trust in chance it suddenly disappears, leaving him in pain, and at times in despair.
When a man has a lucky streak and wins a fortune, an overwhelming sensation immediately tells him that he can win much more, and so he ends up losing everything, even the clothes on his back.
Only the spiritually blind believe in the power of chance and luck. Those that rely on it spend their entire lives seeking it but never find it. Chance and luck have nothing to do with the type of life that God created and which people desire.
Though it was customary in ancient times to use games of chance to decide the “luck” or fate of a person, it was never biblically correct.
God never bestows His blessings by means of chance. On the contrary, a full life is not achieved by chance, but rather by an active faith in the Word of the Living God — a treasure map for the abundant life!
If victory depended on chance, athletes would not have to go through rigorous training before a game, and teams would not buy the best athletes.
For example, God would only intervene in a football game if a player-servant called upon Him for help. Apart from that, the game would follow its normal course with the normal evil influences — since these types of events involve money, emotionalism, fame and above all, idolatry. Where there is emotionalism there is idolatry, and where there is idolatry, evil is at work. And yet, when a sport rids itself of these attitudes, it becomes a healthy activity.
The impossible becomes possible when we totally depend on the fulfillment of God’s promises, because the Lord said that everything is possible, not for those who are lucky, but for those who believe!
The results of faith are not fantasies or pipe-dreams, but God’s reward for those who are faithful to Him. The Lord cannot revoke His Word, it’s always fulfilled, independent of chance or bad luck, as long as someone believes in it and materialises his belief.
Regarding this subject, the Lord Jesus categorically affirmed: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away” (Luke 21.33). In other words, everything we know will one day vanish, with the exception of His Word.
The wise put time and effort into practicing the Word of God because it is the source of life. Whoever practises it will harvest its fruits for the rest of his life, and for all eternity.
If it were up to me, I’d cast chance into the farthest reaches of hell never to be heard from again, because as long as I depended on it, my life was the picture of defeat. But when I had a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus, my life changed.
May God abundantly bless you!
