The “Caravan for Healing of Addictions” continues to gather large crowds wherever it goes. On Tuesday (21), the event was held in the Rio Vermelho Gymnasium in Goiania. Over 20,000 people attended and participated in the prayers led by Bishop Roger Formigoni. The event was also broadcast by videoconference to various regions of the state, totaling the participation of more than 40,000 people.

Among many testimonies, a young man’s case caught our attention when he approached the altar crying and holding a pipe in his hands. He told us how he had traveled for three hours to be healed of a crack addiction. After the prayer, he no longer felt the urge to use drugs, and as he approached the crack rocks, which had been left on the altar by other users, the smell made him nauseous.

The “Caravan for Healing of Addictions” continues visiting several cities and is on a mission to visit all the capitals of Brazil, to fight against the epidemic of addictions that has been plaguing society and destroying families in every social class.

Drug addicts and the people around them, such as their family and friends, face many difficulties. However, contrary to what many medical professionals and health literature state, there is a cure for addiction. So why are there so many people who seek treatment but never completely get rid of the addiction?

“The answer is very simple: addiction is a spirit. You can chain down or tie up a person in a house, but you cannot chain down a spirit. Even when a person goes without using drugs for some time, the urge is still inside him. When he goes through an emotional problem, such as an argument with a loved one, he is going to turn to the substance. An addict will continue needing to use drugs until the spirit is removed from his life. This is the truth, there is no other way.”, explains bishop Roger Formigoni, who is responsible for this work and is the author of “The Last Rock”.
